Royals Recall Dozier
The Kansas City Royals have recalled infielder Nicky Lopez from Triple-A Omaha. Lopez was optioned to Omaha on September 1st after struggling at the plate for much of the season. He hit just .229 with a .633 OPS in 92 games with the Royals this year.
Lopez has been on a tear in Omaha, hitting .353 with a 1.023 OPS in 21 games. He has also stolen 7 bases in that span.
The Royals are hoping that Lopez can provide a spark to their offense down the stretch. They are currently 6 games back of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.
Royals Sign Soler
The Kansas City Royals have signed free agent outfielder Jorge Soler to a one-year contract.
Soler is a two-time All-Star and was a member of the 2016 World Series champion Chicago Cubs.
Soler is expected to play right field for the Royals and will provide a much-needed power bat to the lineup.
Royals DFA Barlow
The Kansas City Royals have designated right-handed pitcher Jackson Kowar for assignment.
Kowar has struggled in his rookie season, posting a 5.40 ERA in 21 starts.
The Royals are hoping to clear a spot on the roster for Lopez.
Royals Promote Pasquantino
The Kansas City Royals have promoted first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to Triple-A Omaha.
Pasquantino is one of the Royals' top prospects and is considered to be one of the best hitting prospects in all of baseball.
Pasquantino is hitting .314 with a .943 OPS in 107 games this season.
Royals Release Santana
The Kansas City Royals have released outfielder Franchy Cordero.
Cordero was acquired by the Royals in a trade with the San Diego Padres in 2021.
Cordero has struggled to stay healthy and productive with the Royals.
