Texans WR Stefon Diggs Out for Remainder of 2024 NFL Season Due to Torn ACL
Texans Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs Suffers Season-Ending Injury
Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the remainder of the 2024 NFL season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.
The injury occurred in the third quarter when Diggs was attempting to make a cut on a crossing route. He immediately fell to the ground in pain and was helped off the field by trainers.
MRI Confirms ACL Tear, Surgery Likely
An MRI performed on Monday confirmed the ACL tear. Diggs is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days and will begin rehabilitation immediately afterward. The typical recovery time for an ACL injury is 9-12 months, which means Diggs is likely to miss the entire 2024 season.
Texans Relying on Other Receivers
The Texans will now have to rely on other receivers to step up in Diggs' absence. Brandin Cooks, Nico Collins, and Chris Moore are expected to see an increase in targets and snaps.
The Texans are currently 1-13 this season and have struggled offensively, averaging just 16.3 points per game. Diggs' injury is a significant blow to their hopes of turning their season around.
