Yankees Legends Jeter, O'Neill to Throw First Pitches Before Games 3, 4
New York Yankees legends Derek Jeter and Paul O'Neill will throw out the ceremonial first pitches before Games 3 and 4 of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians, the team announced Thursday.
Jeter, the Yankees' all-time hits leader and captain of the team's 1996-2000 World Series championship teams, will throw out the first pitch before Game 3 on Friday night. O'Neill, a member of the Yankees' 1996, 1998 and 1999 World Series championship teams, will throw out the first pitch before Game 4 on Saturday afternoon.
Both Jeter and O'Neill are members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Jeter was inducted in 2014, while O'Neill was inducted in 2018.
The Yankees are hosting the Guardians in the ALDS for the first time since 2017. The Yankees won that series in three games.
The Yankees are looking to reach the AL Championship Series for the first time since 2019.
