Kansas basketball coach Bill Self and sophomore forward Flory Bidunga met with the media Tuesday afternoon ahead of the Jayhawks' exhibition game against Washburn on Wednesday night.

Notae doesn't participate

Self said that sophomore guard Dajuan Harris Jr. and junior forward Jalen Wilson did not participate in practice Tuesday because of minor injuries.

Harris rolled his ankle slightly in Sunday's practice and Wilson had a slightly sore back, Self said.

KU's possible starting lineup

Self said he could go with a starting lineup of Harris, Wilson, freshman Gradey Dick, junior Kevin McCullar Jr. and Bidunga on Wednesday.

However, he said he has not made a final decision yet.

KU welcomes back familiar face

Former KU walk-on and graduate assistant Connor McBride is in his first season as an assistant coach with Washburn.

Self said he has a lot of respect for McBride and what he brings to the Ichabods' program.

Exhibition games important for preparation

Self said exhibition games are important for teams to get ready for the regular season.

He said they allow teams to work on their rotations, get their players in game shape and make adjustments to their game plans.

Washburn a good test for KU

Self said Washburn is a good team that will provide a good test for Kansas.

He said the Ichabods have a lot of経験ed players and are well-coached.

KU looking to improve rebounding

Self said one of the areas that Kansas needs to improve on is rebounding.

He said the Jayhawks were outrebounded by Missouri in their exhibition game last week.

Self likes his team's potential

Self said he likes the potential of his team.

He said the Jayhawks have a lot of talent and are working hard to improve.

KU opens regular season next week

Kansas will open the regular season next Monday against Omaha at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks will be looking to start the season 1-0.
