Vinci in Exclusive Talks to Acquire FM Conway in Major UK Deal
Vinci, the French construction giant, is in exclusive talks to acquire FM Conway, one of the UK’s leading infrastructure services companies – a deal that would create a construction powerhouse in the UK.
If the deal goes through, Vinci will acquire all of the shares in FM Conway, a privately-owned company founded in 1966 and based in Dartford, Kent.
FM Conway, which employs around 4,300 people, provides a range of infrastructure services including road construction and maintenance, utilities, rail, and street lighting.
It has a strong track record in the UK, having worked on major projects such as the M25 motorway and the London 2012 Olympics.
For Vinci, the acquisition would be a major boost to its UK operations, which already include construction, facilities management, and energy businesses.
It would also give Vinci a significant presence in the UK infrastructure market, which is estimated to be worth around £60 billion a year.
The deal is expected to be completed in the second half of 2023, subject to regulatory approval.
Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but FM Conway is thought to be valued at around £1 billion.
The acquisition would be the latest in a series of deals by Vinci in the UK, which has seen the company expand its presence in the country significantly in recent years.
In 2021, Vinci acquired Taylor Woodrow, one of the UK’s largest construction companies, for £2.3 billion.
The acquisition of FM Conway would further strengthen Vinci’s position in the UK construction market and make it one of the leading players in the country.
