Tweaked rotation does little for Denver Nuggets' struggling second unit
Changes to the Denver Nuggets' rotation have had minimal impact on the team's second unit
The Denver Nuggets have been struggling to find consistency with their second unit this season. Despite making some changes to the rotation, the team has yet to see much improvement from the bench.
In recent games, Nuggets coach Michael Malone has experimented with different lineups, including starting Monte Morris in place of Will Barton and inserting JaMychal Green into the rotation.
However, these changes have not yielded the desired results. The Nuggets' second unit has continued to struggle, particularly on the defensive end. The team has allowed opponents to shoot 48.5% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range when the bench is on the court.
Morris and Green have not been able to provide the spark that the Nuggets need
Morris has been a solid contributor for the Nuggets this season but is not a natural point guard. He is more comfortable playing off the ball and does not have the same playmaking ability as Barton.
Green has also been a disappointment since joining the Nuggets. The veteran forward has not been able to provide the toughness and rebounding that the team expected from him.
The Nuggets need to find a solution to their second-unit struggles soon
The Nuggets are currently 23-15 this season and are in fifth place in the Western Conference. They have the potential to be a contender but need to find a way to get more production from their bench.
If the Nuggets can't find a solution to their second-unit struggles, it could cost them a chance at making a deep playoff run.
