Trump says he’s open to pardoning Hunter Biden
Former President Donald Trump said he is open to pardoning Hunter Biden if he is convicted on tax charges.
Trump made the comments in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday. He said that he does not know Hunter Biden personally, but that he has heard that he is a “good kid.”
“I don't know him. I hear he's a nice guy. I hear he's a good kid,” Trump said. “If he gets in trouble, I would certainly take a look at it.”
Hunter Biden is the son of President Joe Biden. He has been under investigation by the Justice Department for his business dealings in Ukraine and China.
In December 2021, Hunter Biden disclosed that he had paid $1.2 million to settle a tax bill. The payment came after the IRS had audited his taxes and found that he owed the money.
The Justice Department is continuing to investigate Hunter Biden's business dealings. It is not clear whether he will be charged with any crimes.
Trump's comments come as his own legal troubles continue.
Trump is facing a criminal investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney in Georgia for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in the state.
Trump is also facing a civil lawsuit by the New York Attorney General for his alleged role in a fraudulent scheme at his charitable foundation.
