RB Leipzig v. FC St. Pauli: Preview
Two historical German football clubs, RB Leipzig and FC St. Pauli, will face off in an important 2. Bundesliga match on Saturday, July 29 at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig
RB Leipzig is a relatively new club that was founded in 2009 as a result of a merger between two smaller clubs. However, they have quickly risen through the ranks of German football, winning the 2. Bundesliga title in 2016 and earning promotion to the Bundesliga. They have since established themselves as one of the top teams in Germany, finishing in the top six in each of the past three seasons.
FC St. Pauli, on the other hand, is a much older club that was founded in 1910. They have a long and storied history, having won the German championship in 1960 and the DFB-Pokal in 2002. However, they have been playing in the 2. Bundesliga since 2011 and have not been able to earn promotion back to the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig will be looking to continue their good form when they host FC St. Pauli on Saturday
They are coming off a 2-1 win over Hamburger SV in their last match, and they will be confident of beating a St. Pauli side that has lost three of their last four matches.
FC St. Pauli will need to be at their best if they want to get anything from this match. They will need to be organized in defense and clinical in attack. If they can do that, they have a chance of causing an upset.
The match is expected to be a close one, and it could go either way
RB Leipzig will be the favorites, but St. Pauli have a good record against them, having won two of their last three meetings.
The match will be televised live on ESPN2, and it will be available to stream on ESPN+.
