Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Iffy to return Tuesday

New Orleans Pelicans wing Herbert Jones is questionable to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Utah Jazz due to a left knee contusion, the team announced Monday.

Jones suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday's 110-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. He finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in 28 minutes.

The Pelicans are already without Brandon Ingram, who is out indefinitely with a right foot sprain. Jones' absence would be a further blow to New Orleans' wing depth.

Jones has been a key part of the Pelicans' success this season, averaging 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He is also one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.

If Jones is unable to play Tuesday, the Pelicans will likely start Willy Hernangomez at power forward and Naji Marshall at small forward. Trey Murphy III could also see an increased role.
