Shots Fired After Atlanta Police Investigate Call of a Barricaded Gunman Near Midtown Four Seasons Hotel

Officers with the Atlanta Police Department are investigating a shots-fired call and barricaded gunman situation near the Midtown Four Seasons hotel.As of 1:30 p.m., the scene was still active, and there was a heavy police presence in the area. People are advised to avoid the area.
According to authorities, police were called to the scene just after 8 a.m. in reference to a barricaded gunman.
When officers arrived, they were met with gunfire, according to Atlanta police Sgt. John Chafee.
At least one round was fired at officers, but no officers were hit, Chafee said.
Police have not yet been able to make contact with the suspect.
Chafee said the suspect is believed to be barricaded inside an apartment unit.
APD SWAT and hostage negotiators are on the scene.
Police have not yet released the identity of the person barricaded inside the apartment or the nature of the original call they were responding to.
“We don’t know if there are any victims inside or the suspect’s condition,” Chafee said.
