Leave it to Yankees’ Alex Verdugo to put unique spin on latest World Series bust
Ex-Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo offered unique take on former team's latest World Series disappointment.
Verdugo, now a member of the Boston Red Sox, was traded from the Yankees to the Dodgers in 2019.
Leave it to Alex Verdugo to put a unique spin on the New York Yankees’ latest World Series disappointment.
The former Yankees outfielder, now a member of the Boston Red Sox, took to social media to offer his take on his former team's ALCS loss to the Houston Astros.
“Watching the Yankees lose in the ALCS again made me realize that sometimes it's better to be a part of a team that's not as good,” Verdugo wrote on Twitter.
“At least that way, you don't have to deal with the disappointment of losing in the playoffs year after year.”
Verdugo's comments come as the Yankees have now lost in the ALCS four times in the past six years.
The Red Sox, meanwhile, have won four World Series titles since 2004.
It's clear that Verdugo is happy to be out of New York and in Boston.
And while his comments may not sit well with Yankees fans, they do offer a unique perspective on the team's recent struggles.
