Husker Wrestling: Jordan Burroughs and James Green Going for Gold at World Championships in Albania

Former Nebraska standouts Jordan Burroughs and James Green will represent the United States at the 2023 World Wrestling Championships in Tirana, Albania, on Sept. 14-18.
Burroughs, a four-time NCAA champion and 2012 Olympic gold medalist, will compete at 79 kilograms (174 pounds). Green, a two-time NCAA champion and 2021 NCAA Hodge Trophy winner, will wrestle at 70 kilograms (154.3 pounds).
Both wrestlers have been in excellent form this year, winning gold medals at the Pan American Championships in Acapulco, Mexico, in May. Burroughs also won the Yasar Dogu International in Istanbul, Turkey, in February, while Green won the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series event in Rome, Italy, in March.
The World Championships are the most prestigious wrestling tournament in the world, and Burroughs and Green will be among the favorites to win gold medals. Burroughs is a five-time world champion, while Green is a two-time world medalist.
Burroughs and Green are part of a strong U.S. team that also includes Olympic champions Kyle Snyder, Gable Steveson, and Tamyra Mensah-Stock. The team is coached by former Husker wrestler and Olympic gold medalist Terry Brands.
The 2023 World Wrestling Championships will be held at the Asllan Rusi Sports Palace in Tirana, Albania. The tournament will feature wrestlers from over 100 countries.
Burroughs and Green are excited to represent the United States at the World Championships.
