Felix: 'Maresca bought me, my agent told me so'

Former Chelsea forward Joao Felix has claimed that Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi was keen to sign him on loan during the January transfer window.

The Portugal international made the switch to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid on loan until the end of the season, with the Blues agreeing to pay a £9million loan fee.

However, Felix has struggled to make an impact in west London and has netted just one goal in nine appearances for the club.

De Zerbi keen to sign Felix?

In an interview with Portuguese outlet Record, Felix has claimed that he was also a target for Brighton.

"My agent told me that De Zerbi really wanted me," said Felix.

"But in the end, Chelsea's proposal was the best for me. I'm happy to be here and I hope to help the team achieve its goals."

Felix has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in the summer, with Atletico Madrid reportedly keen to sell the forward.

However, Felix has insisted that he is happy at Chelsea and is determined to prove his worth at the club.

"I'm not thinking about leaving Chelsea," said Felix.

"I'm focused on working hard and helping the team. I believe in this team and I believe that we can achieve great things together."
