Dodgers News: Miguel Rojas Reveals When He Will Have Hernia Surgery
Star shortstop to undergo procedure in Los Angeles next week
Rojas expected to miss 4-6 weeks
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas has announced that he will undergo surgery to repair a hernia next week. The procedure is expected to sideline Rojas for 4-6 weeks.
Rojas has been dealing with the hernia for several weeks and has been playing through the pain. However, the pain has become too severe for him to continue playing effectively.
"I've been playing through it for a few weeks now, but it's gotten to the point where I can't play at the level I need to," Rojas said. "I'm going to have surgery next week and I'm expected to be out for 4-6 weeks."
The Dodgers are hopeful that Rojas will be able to return to the lineup by the end of April or early May. In the meantime, Chris Taylor is expected to take over at shortstop.
Rojas is a key part of the Dodgers' offense and defense. He is a good hitter who can also field his position well. He will be missed while he is out, but the Dodgers are confident that they can win without him.
"Miguel is a big part of our team, but we have a lot of depth," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "We're confident that we can win without him. We just need to find a way to replace his production."
The Dodgers are currently in first place in the NL West with a record of 12-6. They are scheduled to face the San Diego Padres on Thursday night.
