River Plate reached the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores after beating Atlético Mineiro 1-0 this Wednesday night at the Monumental stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Julián Álvarez in the second half.
The match started evenly, with both teams looking for the opening goal. However, it was River Plate who created the clearest chances in the first half. In the 15th minute, Julián Álvarez had a great chance to open the scoring, but his shot went wide. Five minutes later, Enzo Fernández tried from outside the area, but his shot was saved by Everson.
Atlético Mineiro also had their chances, but they lacked clarity in the last meters. In the 25th minute, Hulk had a good chance to score, but his shot was blocked by Paulo Díaz. Ten minutes later, Ademir had another chance, but his header went wide.
