Bad back to keep Melton out for Warriors-Pelicans
Grizzlies guard De'Anthony Melton ruled out for Saturday's game against New Orleans
Memphis Grizzlies guard De'Anthony Melton has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans due to a back injury, the team announced.
Melton, who is averaging 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists this season, has been dealing with the injury for the past few weeks and has missed the Grizzlies' last two games.
Melton's absence is a blow to the Grizzlies, who are already without Ja Morant (knee) and Jaren Jackson Jr. (foot).
The Grizzlies are 2-2 in the four games that Melton has missed this season, but they will be facing a tough test against the Pelicans, who are 11-6 this season and have won four of their last five games.
Brandon Clarke is expected to start in Melton's place, and the Grizzlies will also need big games from Dillon Brooks, Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones.
The Grizzlies and Pelicans are scheduled to tip off at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday at Smoothie King Center.
