Al Ahly, Al Ain to square off in FIFA Club World Cup third-place match
African champions Al Ahly of Egypt will face off against Asian champions Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates in the third-place match of the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday, February 9, 2019.
The match will be played at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar, and will kick off at 5:30 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. GMT).
Al Ahly reached the third-place match after losing to Real Madrid in the semifinals, while Al Ain lost to River Plate in the other semifinal.
This will be the second time that Al Ahly and Al Ain have met in the FIFA Club World Cup. The two teams previously faced off in the third-place match in 2006, with Al Ahly winning 2-1.
Al Ahly is the most successful club in the history of the FIFA Club World Cup, having won the title three times (2006, 2008, and 2012).
Al Ain is making its second appearance in the FIFA Club World Cup. The club finished fourth in its previous appearance in 2009.
The winner of the third-place match will earn a bronze medal, while the loser will finish in fourth place.
