10/29 Preview – Akil Thomas To Debut + Optional Skate, Banking Points, Starting Fast
Akil Thomas To Debut For The Jets
Akil Thomas will finally make his debut for the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night against the Calgary Flames. The 22-year-old forward was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in a trade for forward Trevor Lewis on October 11.
Thomas has been practicing with the Jets for the past two weeks and has impressed the coaching staff with his speed and skill. He is expected to play on the wing alongside Paul Stastny and Nikolaj Ehlers.
Optional Skate
The Jets will have an optional skate on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Bell MTS Place. All players are expected to attend, but it is optional for those who played in Friday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers.
The optional skate is a chance for players to get some extra work in before the game. It is also a chance for the coaching staff to evaluate the players and make any necessary adjustments to the lineup.
Banking Points
The Jets are in a good position to bank some points early in the season. They have a favorable schedule in the first month of the season, with 10 of their first 15 games at home.
The Jets need to take advantage of their home ice advantage and bank some points early in the season. They will have a tough schedule in December and January, so it is important for them to get off to a good start.
Starting Fast
The Jets have a chance to start the season fast. They have a lot of talent on their roster, and they are playing with a lot of confidence.
If the Jets can get off to a good start, they will be in a good position to make a playoff run this season.
